Major Investor Rush for Dubai World Central (DWC) Offerings

Dubai World Central (DWC) – the 140 square kilometre urban land development under construction in Jebel Ali – received major investor interest in several of its real estate and property offerings during Cityscape 2007. As a result of the demand, DWC signed a MoU with Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) at the event to finalise an agreement providing financing to DWC customers. The MoU will cover all real estate sales across the project’s three main components – DWC Residential City, DWC Commercial City and DWC Golf City.

DWC’s real estate components, covering a total of 38.9 square kilometers, commenced phase one lease reservations for three major areas – Residential City Staff Village, Dubai Logistics City (DLC) Staff Village and the DLC Office Park – attracting a diverse range of corporate, institutional and private investors over the three-day event. New Exhibitors to Participate in The GIBTM

With less than 6 months to go until the second edition of the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM) taking place from 8-10 April 2008 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company Centre (ADNEC), the event is well ahead of schedule attracting key industry players. Major meeting destinations, venues and suppliers from the Gulf, Middle East and across the globe have confirmed their attendance early to secure their preferred location in the halls.

Asia is newly represented by Anantara Resorts and Spas, who are situated throughout the region. Returning following their success at the inaugural GIBTM will be The Singapore Tourism Board, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.

Leading Hotels of the World join Jumeirah, Kempinski Hotels and Starwood Hotels and Resorts, all of whom have already confirmed their participation at GIBTM 2008 with representation from hotels in the region and internationally. (more…)

Burj Al Arab voted Best Resort in Middle East and Africa

The world famous Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah’s flagship hotel, was awarded the much-coveted title of Best Resort in Middle East and Africa at the prestigious ceremony.

Zenath Real Estate developing New Hotel in Dubai

Zenath Real Estate, one of UAE’s leading property development companies and a part of the Khalid Abdullah Al Ghurair Group, has intensified its expansion program with a new four-star hotel development at the heart of Dubai’s business and shopping district.

Singapore Real Estate Market attracts Strong Interest at Cityscape Dubai

Singapore’s successful participation at Cityscape Dubai attracted strong interest from key UAE figures, with a major highlight being HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who visited the Singapore Pavilion as an honored guest.

His Highness was given an overview of some of Singapore’s most impressive real estate projects, including the future downtown district Marina Bay. The project, which has already attracted nearly Sin$15 billion (US$10 billion) from international investors and developers, includes the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort and the Marina Bay Financial Centre.

Investors from the GCC invested approximately US$13billion into foreign real estate markets in 2006, with companies such as Istithmar, who successfully tendered for a Sin$1.689 billion (US$1.126 billion) commercial project on Singapore’s Beach Road as part of a joint venture, recognizing the lucrative potential of the city-state’s real estate sector.

The Singaporean delegation also conducted a number of high level meetings with investors from the UAE, many of whom are currently looking to invest outside the region in markets such as Singapore which boasts a strong economy, stable socio political environment, and pro-business climate.

Singapore’s Consul-General to the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Dileep Nair highlighted that the positive investment interest between the two nations demonstrates the burgeoning trade and political relationship between the two nations. (more…)

Dubai Maritime City to Implement Green Building Principles

Dubai Maritime City, one of the world’s first purpose-built maritime centres and a member of the Dubai World Group of companies, recently instructed all developers and contractors to include green building principles in the design and construction of all buildings within the city, ensuring strict environmental compliance and long-term sustainability.

According to the Maritime City’s Master Plan, all developers must obtain green building certification under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). In addition, all buildings in the Maritime City will be reviewed to assess the degree of compliance with the environmental requirements in terms of design, operations and best practices. (more…)

Tamweel to provide Home Financing Options for Dubai World Central

Tamweel, a provider of Sharia’a compliant products and innovative home financing options, is joining hands with Dubai World Central – the huge 140 square kilometre urban aviation project under construction in Jebel Ali, Dubai – in a long-term partnership to provide home finance options to DWC customers.
