Banyan Tree to open Angsana Hotel & Suites Dubai First Quarter 2008

Banyan Tree Holdings is preparing to open its inaugural property in the UAE, the Angsana Hotel & Suites Dubai. The hotel is slated to soft-open end of 2007, with full opening expected first quarter 2008, the property will consist of two towers – suites tower (tower 1) and hotel tower (tower 2). (more…)

Banyan Tree signs All Pool Villa Resort in Dubai

Banyan Tree has signed a management contract for its first Banyan Tree branded development in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In a city of laissez faire architectural expression brimming with out of this world skyscrapers and statement structures, Banyan Tree has chosen to give a unique twist to its hospitality offering in Dubai by creating the city’s first all pool villa resort in the heart of Dubai. (more…)

SAS to launch New Flights to Dubai and Bangkok

SAS is to add two new routes to its intercontinental network this month. On October 29, SAS will commence a thrice-weekly service between Stockholm and Bangkok, and on October 31, SAS will launch a new route between Copenhagen and Dubai.

The Stockholm-Bangkok route complements the existing Copenhagen-Bangkok route, while Dubai is a new destination for SAS International. SAS will this year have launched three new long-haul routes: In March, Stockholm-Beijing was introduced, in addition to Copenhagen- Beijing. (more…)

Dubai Maritime City enters Final Phase of Development

Dubai Maritime City, a purpose-built maritime centre and member of the Dubai World Group of companies, recently commenced work on the third and final phase of the project, which includes infrastructure development.

The new phase consists of the expansion of service networks such as fire, telecommunications, water, district cooling, electricity, wastewater pipelines, access roads, supporting civil infrastructure needs and landscaping works. The final phase of the development is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. (more…)

Work on schedule for US$ 1.8 billion Al Marjan Islands off Ras Al Khaimah coast

Rakeen, one of the Middle East’s most dynamic property developers and master planners, has confirmed that work is well on schedule for the reclamation of the Al Marjan Islands, an ambitious US$ 1.8 billion man-made island development off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah.

Rakeen has contracted Dredging International, a leading international company specializing in amongst other things the construction of man-made islands, to carry out the dredging, reclamation and rock revetment works on this, the first project of its kind to be developed in Ras Al Khaimah.

Located 27 kilometres southwest of the Ras Al Khaimah town centre, the Al Marjan Island project is a cluster of four coral-shaped islands dotted with a variety of water homes, floating villas, hotels, resorts, sporting facilities and commercial spaces over a total area of 2.7 million square meters. Hyatt to manage Stunning Hotel in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company has confirmed that the exclusive new 200 room, 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi’s absolutely stunning Capital Gate building, adjacent to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, will be operated by Hyatt International.

The hotel will open in 2009 and will be the first Hyatt operated facility in the UAE capital city. In recognition of its significance and its stature, Hyatt International has named the hotel ‘Hyatt at Capital Centre’. It is expected to be one of the most exclusive hotels in the world. (more…)

Dubai World to Partner One&Only for Luxury Zanzibar Resort

Dubai World is partnering with One&Only Resorts in the development and management of its new US$ 150 million luxury resort in Zanzibar, which is scheduled to open in 2009. One&Only Zanzibar will feature a 150-room luxury hotel, a 50-room residence and a spa retreat on a 76-hectare site at Muyuni Beach in Zanzibar. (more…)
