DTCM and DSG signs up for leadership programme

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has signed up with Dubai School of Government (DSG) to provide executive education programme for its staff to enhance their professional skills and expertise in leadership and management.

The DSG will deliver an extensive and customized series of workshops in leadership competencies, management acumen, personal skills and integrated local and global knowledge forums. These workshops will be of one to three days duration and will benefit the middle and senior level employees. The strategic partnership with DSG is in line with the DTCM’s commitment towards enhancing the professional skills and excellence culture of its human resources. The agreement was signed by DTCM Executive Director Corporate Support, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot and Mr. Khaled El Gohary, Director of Executive Education Program at DSG, at a ceremony held at the DTCM Head Office.

The programme’s core focus areas are based on leadership in the 21st Century, Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Human Resources Development, Crisis Management, Communication Skills, Dealing with Media, Networking Events, Roundtable Discussions on Branding and Book Summary sessions. (more…)

DTCM promotes Dubai in Chicago and Ukraine markets

Two shows attracts 20 co-participants – The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) promoted Dubai as a year-round business and leisure destination during its participation in a travel trade show in the US city of Chicago and through a Dubai workshop for the travel industry professionals in Ukrainian city of Kiev.

DTCM, along with eight co-participants, took part in the Incentive Travel and Meeting Executive Show (IT&ME-2009) from September 29 to October 1. DTCM participated in this exhibition for the 20th consecutive year and Dubai Stand measured 800 square feet.

Mohamed Al Muhairi, Head of USA and Canada Region at DTCM’s Overseas Promotions Department, led the Dubai delegation.

The co-participants were Rida International Tourism, Arabian Adventures, Kurban Tours, The Address Hotels and Resorts, Emirates Airlines, Wings Tours Gulf, Dubai Convention Bureau and Jumeirah Hotels and Beach Resorts. More than 13000 buyers and exhibitors participated in the show held on over 250,000 square feet of exhibition space.

DTCM hosted a Dubai workshop for the Ukrainian travel industry decision-makers in Kiev on October 7.

The workshop’s 12 co-participants were Akkad Tours, Alpha Tours, Arabian Explorers, Arabian Link Tours, Blue Water Tourism, Desert Adventures Tourism, Destinations of the World, Flora Park and Flora Creek Hotel Apartments, Lama Desert Tourism, Quality Tours, Royal Park Tourism and Yasi Tours.

Officials from DTCM’s Moscow office briefed the participants about the Dubai’s tourism product offerings and attractions for the visitors. (more…)

DTCM showcase online e-services at Gitex-2009

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is participating in the Gitex-2009, the Middle East’s largest information technology exhibition, being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 18 to 22.

The department is conducting a daily quiz competition at the Dubai e-Government Stand at 11 am for the visitors who have the chance to win prizes which includes free hotel stay in Dubai hotel, desert safari, city tour and dinner vouchers.

Dawn Princess Brings 2750 Cruise Tourists To Dubai

First ship of the winter season has mostly British tourists on board. Dubai Cruise Terminal in Port Rashid complex recently played a host to Dawn Princess, a cruise ship which brought 2750 tourists to the emirate at the start of the cruise industry’s winter season.

There was a passenger exchange programme for 360 guests at the temporary cruise facility. The ship arrived from Muscat and left for Mumbai, India after a day’s stay in the emirate.

Cruise tourism is being aggressively promoted by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) which operates the cruise terminal.

The ship passengers were accorded a traditional welcome by the local officials, tour operators and shipping agents.

In the year 2008, the Dubai cruise facility received 82 ships with 182,030 passengers, while in the year 2009 it is expected to receive 101 ships with 316,043 passengers. In the year 2010, Dubai is expected to host 99 ships with 383,432 passengers.

The cruise terminal is presently operating from a temporary facility comprising of giant tents measuring 1800 square metres each. The facility has now access to five berths measuring a total of approx 1000 meters.

All existing services provided in the earlier cruise terminal continue to be provided such as the money exchange, post office, duty free arcade, gift shop, jewellery shop, internet facilities, café and a dates shop.

The new cruise terminal, straddling 3450 square metres and capable of handling four ships simultaneously, is expected to b operational for the next cruise season in January 2010. (more…)
