Emirates adds Vietnam to its expanding global network

Emirates, one of the fastest growing international airlines, continues its expansion in South East Asia with the addition of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to its global network from 4th June 2012.

The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has been one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, with Ho Chi Minh City, home to over seven million people, recognised as its commercial capital. (more…)

Emirates Expands its South American Horizons with Launch of Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires Flights

Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, has extended its South American network by linking Dubai with Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, further broadening the airline’s reach across the Americas.

Emirates’ inaugural Flight 247 made its first landing at Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, where it was initiated by a traditional water cannon salute.

The flight, operated by Argentine Captain Marcos Medina, then departed for its first onwards connection to Buenos Aires, where government and airport officials led by Enrique Meyer, the Argentinean Minister of Tourism, welcomed the Emirates VIP delegation headed by Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President – Passenger Sales Worldwide. Manchester Becomes A380′s North Star

Manchester will become the most northerly point on the world’s A380 network after Emirates revealed its latest plans for the superjumbo.

A 517-seat version of the giant aircraft will serve Manchester from 1st September – as the airline marks a double decade of service to the city.

The A380 will replace Boeing 777 aircraft on EK017 from Dubai and EK018 out of Manchester. At the same time, Manchester will become the world’s first regional airport to have a regular A380 service. (more…)

Emirates Takes Delivery of Sixth A380

Forging ahead with the airline’s immense fleet expansion Emirates has taken delivery of its sixth Airbus A380 aircraft.

The colossal aircraft landed in Dubai late last night after travelling from the Jurgen Thomas Delivery Centre in Hamburg, Germany. The aircraft is currently being fitted with the airline’s service hallmarks at Emirates’ world class engineering facility, in preparation for entry into service.

Taking delivery of this mammoth plane Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations said: “The delivery of our sixth A380 aircraft is testament to Emirates’ steadfast resilience amidst the global economic crisis. The A380 offers us the ability to support our operational needs and meet passenger demand, an important factor with international load levels looking positive over the next few months.” (more…)

Emirates is to launch flights From Dubai to Amsterdam

The blossoming of the airline’s 23rd route into Europe will bring much awaited news in The Netherlands. The daily, non-stop service from Dubai will be operated with a combination of 777-200LR and 777-300ER aircraft, boasting a three-class configuration and the newest version of ice, the passenger revered in-flight entertainment system. Emirates, with its exquisite Private Suites, will be the only airline offering First Class accommodation on the route.

This is the fourth new destination to be announced this year by the Dubai-based carrier. Durban and Luanda were both launched in October and Tokyo was recently announced with a start date of 28th March 2010. (more…)

Flydubai Strengthens Presence In Africa

flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, is set to expand its network in Africa with the announcement of flights to Djibouti from 01 September 2009.

The new service, FZ601, will operate three times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, departing Dubai at 08:00 and arriving in Djibouti at 10:15 local time. The return flight, FZ602, will leave 45 minutes later at 11:00 and arrive back in Dubai at 15:15 local time.

One way fares to Djibouti from Dubai will cost from AED 650, including all taxes and one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 10 kg, and will be available for purchase from the website (flydubai.com), call centre (04 301 0800) and travel agents from today. (more…)
